SUMMER 2018 HONORS & AP ENGLISH SUMMER READING

The Brea Olinda English Department encourages all of our students to be active readers throughout the summer. Students need to be ready to discuss and write about a novel the first week of school.

Honors Literature & Composition I (incoming ninth graders):
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
(Both available from BOHS @ registration in August)

Honors Literature & Composition II (incoming tenth graders):
Be ready for your reading comprehension to be assessed on one of the following books the first week of school:

  • The Picture of Dorian Grey* by Oscar Wilde (Available from BOHS @ registration in August)
  • Silas Marner* by George Eliot (Available from BOHS @ registration in August)
  • A Tale of Two Cities* by Charles Dickens (Available from BOHS @ registration in August)

AP Language & Composition (incoming eleventh graders):
In Cold Blood* by Truman Capote

AP Literature & Composition (incoming twelfth graders):
Choose One:

  • Wuthering Heights* by Emily Bronte (Available from BOHS @ registration in August)
  • White Noise by Don DeLillo
  • All the Pretty Horses* by Cormac McCarthy
  • Beloved by Toni Morrison

AP EUROPEAN HISTORY SUMMER 2018

AP European History Summer Assignment

This summer, AP European History students can get ahead by learning the vocabulary for the first unit.  They can learn the material by doing these 7 assignments.  Mr. Rotblum recommends that students do them one per week, but they are free to work ahead if needed.
