What is AVID?

AVID is an elective class where students learn organization and study skills, work on critical thinking and inquiry skills. Students will get academic help during the school day from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities that make college attainable. Students in this class will take field trips to local college campuses and listen to knowledgeable guest speakers.

How does a student sign up for AVID?

The application process is launching spring 2019 for incoming freshmen. Students should have a GPA of 2.0 to 3.5, meet or exceed state tests for mathematics and English language arts, be the first generation in their family to attend college, and be a hard worker with a positive attitude and a collaborative nature.
