California State Content Standards

In 2010, the California State Board of Education formally adopted new content standards for English Language Arts & Literacy and Mathematics. English Language Arts & Literacy Standards have four strands--reading, writing, listening and speaking, and language, and apply to language arts classes as well as classes in the social studies, science, and technical subjects.  Mathematics content standards are based on conceptual categories at the high school level, and Standards for Mathematical Practice outline the thinking processes students will hone as they learn the content.
