UNIVERSITY TUTOR'S SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST - MONTHLY CONTESTS FOR $1,000!

Every month, University Tutor holds a $1,000 college scholarship contest and we want to spread the word to students.

University Tutor's Scholarship Contest Description

University Tutor holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write a short essay in response to a monthly prompt. The submitted essays are reviewed by University Tutor staff at the end of the month and one winner is chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Currently enrolled students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent) should submit an essay describing their innovative project and provide supporting documentation (e.g. website, news article, letter of recommendation, etc.).  All submissions are due by 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month. 

There are no fees associated with this scholarship, and we have been offering it for over a year, awarding many creative students.  Please visit our website for more detailed information and to see featured past recipients and their accomplishments.

The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc., (JLOCC) has annually awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students to help support the JLOCC vision of a community in which health, safety, and education of all individuals are promoted and supported.

Scholarship Program

The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc., (JLOCC) is pleased to announce that we are seeking qualified applicants to compete for our annual Scholarships Awards for the 2019-2020 academic year. This year, up to $4,000 will be awarded to deserving students who are striving to pursue a college degree.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently a graduating high school senior or a post-secondary student
  • High school or post-secondary grade point average of 3.0 or above
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Pending acceptance to a post-secondary institution (required for receipt of scholarship)
  • If registering as a part-time student, proof of 20 or more hours of work per week
  • Agreement to attend the JLOCC June 2018 meeting to accept any award or send an appropriate designee (parent, executive director of the project/program, foster parent, etc.)
  • Scholars should be willing to update the JLOCC about their academic experience by May 2019
  • May not be an immediate relative of a JLOCC member (i.e. sibling, daughter, son)
  • Scholars must use the funds awarded within one calendar year from the official award date

Please note: Former or current participants in a JLOCC sponsored program or organization may receive preference. Applicants can reapply annually.

Scholarship Award Application: Applicants must submit all of the following information for scholarship consideration:

  • Completed application form
  • High school and/or any post-secondary school transcripts
  • Letter of recommendation from an academic advisor, academic counselor or recent instructor
  • A second letter of recommendation from an individual not related to you

Grants students 20 - $1,000 in scholarship awards for high school seniors planning to attend college as a full-time, degree-seeking student in Fall of 2019.

Eligibility:

1.       High school seniors who reside in California, Washington, Illinois, Nevada, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, New York, and New Jersey.

2.       Plan to attend a U.S. Accredited 4-Year College/ University or a Community College in the state of California, Washington, Illinois, Nevada, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, New York, and New Jersey as a 1st-year student in the Fall of 2019 (if selected, must submit college acceptance letter for verification)

3.       Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0.

4.       Have a household income at or below the Low Income Level (Must be able to show 2017 or 2018 tax return should the applicant be selected for award.)

5.       The scholarship is open to ALL MAJORS and there is NO ETHNICITY REQUIREMENT.

2.       Plan to attend a U.S. accredited 4-year College/University of California/Nevada Community College/New York Community College as a 1st-year full-time student in the Fall of 2019 (if selected, must submit college acceptance letter for verification)

3.       Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0.

4.       Have a household income at or below County Low Income Level (Must be able to show 2017 or 2018 tax return should the applicant be selected for award.)

5.       This scholarship is open to ALL MAJORS and there is NO ETHNICITY REQUIREMENT.

6.       Employees of Royal Business Bank and their immediate family members are NOT eligible to apply.

3.       Plan to attend a University or College as a 1st or 2nd-year full-time student in the Fall of 2019 (If selected, high school seniors must submit a college acceptance letter for verification.)

4.       Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school/college GPA of 3.0.

5.       Have a household income at or below the Federal/State/County Low Income Level (Must be able to show 2017 or 2018 tax return should the applicant be selected for award.)

6.       The scholarship is open to ALL majors.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation and TheDream.US partner with the College Board to increase scholarship opportunities for eligible students who’ve taken the PSAT/NMSQT® or PSAT™ 10.

No one succeeds in college alone. That’s why the Jackie Robinson Foundationoffers promising minority students a generous four-year grant to assist with college costs as well as a support network of fellow scholars, alumni, and professional mentors to help them excel in college and beyond.

The application deadline is February 1, 2019, so please encourage eligible students to apply right away. Learn more about the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship.

TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access program for immigrant youth who are DACA, TPS, or DACA-eligible, opened its new round of scholarship applications for the 2019-20 academic year on November 1, 2018. TheDream.US has provided more than 4,000 scholarships to students who are attending one of the more than 75 colleges and universities in 15 states and Washington, D.C.

The application deadline for the Opportunity Scholarship Award, which provides scholarships up to $80,000 for first-time college students, is January 31, 2019. The application deadline for the National Scholarship Award, which offers scholarships up to $33,000 for high school or first-time college students and community college graduates, is February 28, 2019. The 2019 Hispanic Education Endowment Fund scholarship opportunities are now open!

 

Criteria:

  • First Generation Latino/a applying to a four-year college
  • Graduating from an OC high school or transferring from an OC community college and plan to enroll full-time at a four year college in fall 2019
  • Completed FAFSA application or California Dream Act Application
  • Student Aid Report (SAR) or CALSAR
