UNIVERSITY TUTOR'S SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST - MONTHLY CONTESTS FOR $1,000!

Every month, University Tutor holds a $1,000 college scholarship contest and we want to spread the word to students.

University Tutor's Scholarship Contest Description

University Tutor holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write a short essay in response to a monthly prompt. The submitted essays are reviewed by University Tutor staff at the end of the month and one winner is chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Currently enrolled students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent) should submit an essay describing their innovative project and provide supporting documentation (e.g. website, news article, letter of recommendation, etc.).  All submissions are due by 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month.

BadCredit.org's Wealth Wise Scholarship

The BadCredit.org Wealth Wise Scholarship is open to US undergraduate and graduate students seeking a career in the finance industry.

The scholarship amount is $1,000 and will be awarded based on academic merit and the submission of a short essay to be titled How the US Credit Scoring System Can Be Improved.

Requirements

 

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Major of study must support a career in the finance industry (e.g., finance, business, accounting, mathematics, management, and other related majors)
  • Must be a US resident
  • Must send in an official transcript
  • Must be a current or future college student (e.g., high school senior)
  • Scholarship must go to tuition purposes (will be paid directly to the university/college)
  • Complete an essay for submission (see essay guidelines below)

  • Due Date: December 31, 2018
  • Announced: January 21, 2019

Essay Guidelines

 

Please adhere to the essay guidelines below:

  • Essay Topic/Title: How the US Credit Scoring System Can Be Improved. This essay will explore current issues in today’s credit landscape and various ways to offset the negative implications that affect many Americans’ ability to access capital.
  • The essay should be 500-900 words.
  • Any resources should be carefully noted and cited appropriately using the MLA format.
  • Any plagiarism or fabrication will disqualify the applicant from award disbursement.
  • The essay should be written in 12-point font, Times New Roman, double-spaced, 1-inch margins.

I wanted to share information about the Edison Scholars program. On Dec. 14, the application period for 30 scholarships statewide will conclude.
 
This program is funded by Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison, and it awards $40,000 scholarships to current high school seniors. Minimum requirements to apply include:
 
*  3.0 or higher GPA
*  Live or go to school in an area serviced by Southern California Edison (SCE)
*  Show financial need
*  Plan on attending a 4-year university with an academic focus on STEM fields.

Application Period Now Open for $1.2 Million Edison Scholarship Program


ROSEMEAD, Calif., Oct. 1, 2018 - High school seniors who dream of making a difference in the world through STEM studies are invited to apply to Edison International's $1.2 million Edison Scholars Program.

Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison, is awarding $40,000 scholarships, paid over four years, to 30 high school students planning to major in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields at four-year accredited U.S. colleges and universities. Scholarship applications are now being accepted through Dec. 14.

Applicants must live in SCE's service territory and plan to be a full-time undergraduate college freshman majoring in a STEM field in fall 2019. Eligible students must be a high school senior, have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Students from underserved communities and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply. Dependents of Edison International and SCE employees and retirees are not eligible for the Edison Scholars Program.

"Science, technology, engineering and math educations open doors to the future. I'm the beneficiary of a STEM education, and I know it changes lives," said Pedro Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International. Scholarship recipients will be announced next spring. They may also be eligible for summer internships at SCE after completing their second year of college.

Since 2006, Edison International has awarded more than $8.7 million in scholarships to 610 students' higher education through the Edison Scholars Program.

Edison International, la empresa matriz de Southern California Edison, está otorgando becas de $40,000, las cuales se pagarán en un periodo de cuatro años, a 30 estudiantes de preparatorias que planean especializarse en los campos de STEM en universidades y colegios universitarios acreditados de cuatro años ubicados en Estados Unidos. The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc., (JLOCC) has annually awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students to help support the JLOCC vision of a community in which health, safety, and education of all individuals are promoted and supported.

Scholarship Program

The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc., (JLOCC) is pleased to announce that we are seeking qualified applicants to compete for our annual Scholarships Awards for the 2019-2020 academic year. This year, up to $4,000 will be awarded to deserving students who are striving to pursue a college degree.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently a graduating high school senior or a post-secondary student
  • High school or post-secondary grade point average of 3.0 or above
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Pending acceptance to a post-secondary institution (required for receipt of scholarship)
  • If registering as a part-time student, proof of 20 or more hours of work per week
  • Agreement to attend the JLOCC June 2018 meeting to accept any award or send an appropriate designee (parent, executive director of the project/program, foster parent, etc.)
  • Scholars should be willing to update the JLOCC about their academic experience by May 2019
  • May not be an immediate relative of a JLOCC member (i.e. sibling, daughter, son)
  • Scholars must use the funds awarded within one calendar year from the official award date

Please note: Former or current participants in a JLOCC sponsored program or organization may receive preference. Applicants can reapply annually.

Scholarship Award Application: Applicants must submit all of the following information for scholarship consideration:

  • Completed application form
  • High school and/or any post-secondary school transcripts
  • Letter of recommendation from an academic advisor, academic counselor or recent instructor
  • A second letter of recommendation from an individual not related to you
