Brea Olinda High School Performing Arts Center Reopens Following $1.6 Million Renovation

Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) celebrated the grand reopening of the Brea Olinda High School (BOHS) Performing Arts Center on August 26, welcoming students, families, staff, Board of Education members and community members to experience the newly renovated space.

The event, which coincided with Back-to-School Night, featured appearances by BOHS Cheer, BOHS Entertainment Corp, BOHS ASB and BOHS Dance Production, adding a special student presence to the celebration. Guests also had the opportunity to tour the Performing Arts Center and see the significant improvements firsthand, including new auditorium seating, updated flooring and modernized lighting.

Last February, the Board of Education unanimously supported enhancements to the Performing Arts Center. The project included roof replacement, new flooring and paint, new auditorium seats, and upgraded LED lighting throughout the auditorium, lobby and stage. The lighting improvements were completed in fall 2025 with the total project cost at approximately $1.6 million.

During the grand reopening, Superintendent Brinda Leon described the evening as a celebration of the District’s investment in students and the community.

“Tonight is really a celebration of investment, partnership, and possibility. When we invest in spaces like this, we are doing much more than improving a facility. We are investing in our students, our outstanding arts programs, and in a place that has brought generations of the Brea community together.”

The renovated facility features 421 new auditorium seats with maple armrests and upholstered seating, LED aisle lighting for improved ADA accessibility, updated carpeting, and exterior painting.

Board President Carrie Flanders emphasized the importance of thoughtful investment in facilities that serve both students and the broader Brea community.

“This Performing Arts Center has been an important part of Brea Olinda High School for many years. With 421 new seats, modernized lighting, new flooring and paint, and significant infrastructure improvements including a new roof, we have renewed this facility while preserving what has always made it special: its ability to bring people together.”

Flanders noted that the PAC serves a purpose beyond the high school, providing a venue for theater and music, student performances and celebrations, meetings and community events.

“It is a school facility, but it is also very much a Brea community space,” she said. “When we give talented students and staff spaces that support their work, we expand what is possible.”

For the students who will perform on its newly renovated stage, the reopening represents the beginning of a new chapter. The Performing Arts Center will continue to serve as a place where students can develop their talents, build confidence and create lasting memories with their families and community.
