Brea Olinda High School Boys Varsity Water Polo Crowned CIF-Southern Section Division 2 Champions

The Brea Olinda High School (BOHS) Boys Varsity Water Polo team clinched its first CIF Southern Section title marking a historic achievement for the school during the 2024 CIF-SS Ford Championships held at Mount San Antonio College on Nov. 16. 

 

The  Wildcats triumphed in a hard-fought game ending with an 11-10 win over Capistrano Valley High School and showcasing unparalleled defense throughout the game. 

 

Led by sixth-year Coach Damian Madrigal along with an extraordinary group of athletes, the team has showcased remarkable skill, determination and strong teamwork throughout the season. 

 

“We are incredibly proud of our BOHS Boys Water Polo team for achieving this remarkable victory and contributing to the legacy of excellence of Brea Olinda’s athletic programs,” said Superintendent Brinda Leon. “We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at a future Board of Education meeting.”

 

The team is not done yet. Saturday’s victory qualified them to play in the first round of the CIF SoCal Regional Championships. BOHS will face off next against Point Loma High School on Nov. 19 at BOHS at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at gofan.co
