What is AVID? 

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an elective class where students learn organization and study skills, work on critical thinking and inquiry skills. Students will get academic help during the school day from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities that make college attainable. Students in this class will take field trips to local college campuses and listen to knowledgeable guest speakers.

How does a student sign up for AVID?

To qualify, students should have the following qualities:

• A-G Eligible or have a plan in place to become eligible
• Minimal disciplinary issues
• Want to go to college, trade school, or another educational program after high school
• Are motivated to improve and challenge themselves
• Would benefit from extra support and guidance in an academic and personal setting
