Broadcasting
Today on Wildcat TV, You! Explore the world of broadcast journalism both in front of and behind he camera. Students work as a news team to create content for the Brea Olinda High School website and social media channels.
In the Broadcasting pathway you will learn how to plan a newscast through organization and storyboarding, record both audio and visual aspects of a news cast, set design, post processing, responsible and ethical journalism, and much, much more.
Course Descriptions
Broadcasting 1 |
This course emphasizes improving students’ visual arts and communication skills through broadcasting as media arts. Students will perform and produce television broadcasts, commercials, interviews, and public service announcements (PSAs). Activities will also include script writing, storyboard production, product editing, time and resource management and use of video/audio equipment and editing software. Students will also explore careers in the broadcasting and entertainment industry, ethics of broadcasting, and the influence of video and media on global communications, on culture, and the role it plays in social behaviors. Culturally relevant topics and activities, real-world problems, and applications will be explored through the lens of the entertainment industry. This course provides students the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the artistic process, including creation, presenting, producing, performing, responding, critiquing, and connecting.
This course asks students to critically evaluate and effectively interact with legal, technological, systemic, and vocational contexts of media arts, considering civic values, media literacy, social media, virtual environments, and digital identity.
