I am James Charrette, the Director of Instrumental Music here at Brea Olinda HS. I would like to take a moment to welcome every student to our fantastic instrumental music program! Our goal is to create an inclusive, family environment where all students feel welcome, safe, and have fun playing music! I hope to be a valuable guide and resource to help students achieve their musical goals. We aim to shape our students into hard working, responsible citizens who engage in trust, mutual respect, and cooperation.

Brea 8K Classic
The Brea 8K Classic is hosted by the Brea Olinda HS Instrumental Music Boosters program and is consistently our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year!
About the Director:
James Charrette is the Director of Instrumental Music at Brea Olinda High School. A graduate of El Dorado HS, James went on to study percussion performance at U.C.L.A. (B.A. Music Performance) and The Boston Conservatory (M.M. Percussion Performance). In his performance career, James has performed with many educational, independent, and professional organizations including The Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, UCLA, The Boston Conservatory, Irvine Valley College, CSUF, and the Pacific Symphony (OC Can You Play). As an educator, James has taught high school level marching and concert percussion ensembles at many schools in the Southern California area for over 10 years. James earned his teaching credential at California State University Fullerton in 2018, was hired by Brea Olinda USD the same year, and is excited to be in his seventh year as the Director of Instrumental Music at Brea Olinda High School.
